Actor And Comedian Richard Lewis Guests On The WB’s Top-Rated Series “7th Heaven” In A Five-Episode Arc As A Rabbi
(January 15, 2002 – Pasadena, CA) – Actor and comedian Richard Lewis will make a special guest-starring appearance as Rabbi Glass in five episodes of “7TH HEAVEN,” The WB’s highest-rated series, this February. Laraine Newman, best known for her comedic performances as a member of the original cast of “Saturday Night Live,” will guest-star as the Rabbi’s wife, Rosina Glass. The first episode starring Lewis and Newman, entitled “I Really Do,” will air on Monday, February 18 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET).
The couple befriends Reverend Camden (Stephen Collins) and his family and will become the future in-laws to Matt (Barry Watson), who falls for their daughter.
Lewis currently recurs on the acclaimed HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” He is also known for his work on the critically acclaimed television series “Anything But Love” co-starring Jamie Lee Curtis and the lauded independent film “Drunks” co-starring Dianne Weist, Faye Dunaway and Amanda Plummer.
Lewis’ recent autobiographical collection of his stream-of-consciousness personal observations entitled “The OTHER Great Depression,” released in 2000, will be out in paperback this February. His stand-up specials for cable, including “I’m Exhausted,” “I’m In Pain” and “I’m Doomed,” have garnered him several CableACE Award nominations and Lewis continues to perform his comedy to live audiences. GQ magazine listed Lewis as one of the “20th Century’s Most Influential Humorists.”
One of the original members of “Saturday Night Live” and Groundlings alumnus, Laraine Newman recently voiced the character of Bea in the animated feature film “Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius,” Samantha Shane in “The Rugrats: All Growed Up” and voiced several characters in the animated television series “Grim & Evil.” Additionally, Newman has recorded voices for The WB’s animated series’ “The Oblongs,” “Detention” and “Histeria!” Her other television credits include “Friends,” “Ellen,” “3rd Rock From the Sun,” “Laverne & Shirley” and “St. Elsewhere.”
“7TH HEAVEN” is in its sixth season and has been The WB’s highest-rated series for four years.
