John Garcia Promoted To Vice President & General Manager, Latin America, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution
(September 30, 2005 – Burbank, CA) – John Garcia has been promoted to Vice President & General Manager, Latin America, Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, it was announced today by Jeffrey Schlesinger, President, WBITD.
In his new post, Garcia will have overall responsibility for the sales, marketing and distribution of WBITD product, including television series and movies, animated series and feature films to broadcast, cable, satellite and emerging television platforms in the Latin America region. He will relocate from WBITD’s Madrid office to Miami and report to Malcolm Dudley Smith, Executive Vice President, Sales and Business Development, WBITD.
“John started with us in our management development program just seven years ago and has really grown into an integral part of our sales team,” said Schlesinger. “The Latin American market is an increasingly important market and we will look to John replicate the great work he did for us in Europe and help us fully exploit and maximize the many opportunities available to us in the region.”
Prior to his promotion, Garcia served as Deputy Managing Director in WBITD’s Madrid office with responsibility for the division’s activities in Southern Europe: Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, Turkey, Cyprus. Before that, he was Director of Sales/Business Development for Portugal & Spain, WBITD and Turner Entertainment Channels in Madrid. He joined WBITD in 1998 as a global management trainee at the home office in Burbank and later served in WBITD’s London office for six months before relocating to Madrid.
Garcia has also held sales and marketing positions at a number of advertising and media companies, including CBS/Westwood One Inc., The Interep Radio Store, Capital Cities/ABC, KMSG-TV (Telemundo affiliate in Fresno, CA), La Agencia de Orci y Asociados, and Grupo Berlusconi (in Barcelona & Milan).
