(April 12, 2001 – Burbank, CA) - Paul McGuire has joined The WB Network as Senior Vice-President, Network Communications, it was announced today by Brad
Turell, Executive Vice President, Corporate Communications, TBS, Inc. to whom Mr. McGuire will report. Mr. McGuire for most of the past three years has held the top PR position at UPN, as Senior Vice-President, Media Relations and prior to that was the Vice-President of Primetime Publicity at NBC for many years.
This is the second time Mr.Turell and Mr. McGuire have worked together. In 1987 Mr. Turell hired Mr. McGuire to create the initial photography department at Fox Broadcasting Co., serving the needs of the publicity, advertising and marketing departments.
SAID MR. TURELL:
“Getting Paul McGuire to come to The WB is one of the best moves we have ever made as a network. He is universally respected in the industry as one of the very best in the business. We found ourselves in a remarkably fortunate position to move quickly to sign Paul to a long-term contract to take over a highly respected veteran department that will adapt to Paul immediately and seamlessly. Paul and I have had a close personal and professional relationship dating back to 1987. I’m glad he’s on our team again and we don’t have to compete against him.”
SAID MR. McGUIRE:
“I am extremely lucky to be joining The WB. A serendipitous series of events led to my being here and I can only hope to carry on the tradition Brad established creating such a crack unit of smart, motivated people.”
Prior to joining The WB, McGuire spent three years as Senior Vice President, Media Relations, at the United Paramount Network, where he oversaw all corporate communications and publicity on such shows as “Star Trek: Voyager,” “WWF Smackdown!” and “The Beat.” Previously, Mr. McGuire spent a decade at NBC, where he left the network as Vice President, Primetime Publicity, after directing promotional efforts for “ER,” “Friends,” “Homicide: Life On The Street,” “Law & Order,” “Gulliver’s Travels” and “Seinfeld.”
