Sonia Borris Promoted To Senior Vice President, Marketing & Operations, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Marketing
(January 2, 2008 – Burbank, CA) – Warner Bros. television marketing and promotions executive Sonia Borris has been promoted to the newly created position of Senior Vice President, Marketing & Operations, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Marketing, it was announced today by Lisa Gregorian, Executive Vice President, Worldwide Marketing, Warner Bros. Television Group (WBTVG), to whom Borris will continue to report.
In her new position, Borris will serve as Gregorian’s second in command at the Worldwide Television Marketing unit and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the group. She will continue to supervise the unit’s marketing, promotions, product integration and client services teams, and will now also oversee business operations.
Formed in January 2006, Worldwide Television Marketing serves as a full-service, in-house agency providing comprehensive marketing and promotional counsel to WBTVG’s five production divisions (Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Television, Telepictures Productions, Warner Bros. Animation and digital production arm Studio 2.0), three distribution units (Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, Warner Bros. Domestic Cable Distribution and Warner Bros. International Television) and its Media Sales division.
“Sonia is an extremely talented executive with valuable business and creative experience on both the studio and network sides of the marketing equation, and she has done an outstanding job overseeing marketing, promotions and client services for our group,” said Gregorian. “In her new role, she adds oversight of our business operations, creating an opportunity for our marketing division to develop product-centric marketing campaigns with high creative standards while maximizing our internal resources efficiently in today’s challenging business environment.”
Borris will continue to work closely with the Studio’s television production and media sales executives, producers, network partners and advertisers to develop and create marketing and promotional opportunities, as well as original digital programming extensions, for properties from Warner Bros. Television and Warner Horizon Television. In collaboration with the Worldwide Television Marketing unit’s new media group, she oversees online and digital strategies to support sponsorships, advertising, wireless and promotional campaigns, as well as enhanced video content for WBTVG programming. Additionally, Borris supervises all event marketing and production activities related to sales meetings, conferences, client presentations and Warner Bros.’ presence at trade and consumer conventions, including NATPE, Promax, Comic-Con International: San Diego and more. She is also charged with developing new marketing-based revenue models for WBTVG.
Immediately prior to her promotion, Borris served for two years as Vice President, Marketing and Promotions, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Marketing. In this role, she was instrumental in the development and production of a number of marketing and promotional campaigns, including integrated promotions and original digital programming extensions with blue-chip brands such as Toyota, Verizon Wireless, Procter & Gamble, Unilever and AT&T, among others, on behalf of a number of WBTVG series, including “Smallville,” “One Tree Hill,” “Supernatural,” “The O.C.” and more.
Before joining Worldwide Television Marketing, Borris worked at The WB Television Network for seven years. She was Vice President, Integrated Marketing, from April 2002–December 2005 and Director, Participant Promotions, Primetime, from January 1999–March 2002. Prior to joining The WB, Borris served as Manager, TV Promotions and Worldwide Licensing, for Fox Consumer Products and, before that, Supervisor, National Promotions, at The Walt Disney Company’s Buena Vista Television.
Borris is a graduate of the University of Oregon and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics.
