Warner Bros. Entertainment Starts Its Own Nordic Video Operation June 1, 2005
(July 12, 2005 – Burbank, CA) - Warner Home Video a business unit of Warner Bros Entertainment is establishing a full service home video company to cover the entire Nordic region. “We see a great potential in the Nordic market, and therefore we want to be one of the major players in this important region”, says Philippe Cardon, Executive Vice president, Warner Home Video Europe.
The DVD market in the Nordic area has more than doubled over the last five years, and it is estimated to reach over 4 billion SEK in 2005. To better meet demands from the market we will implement a new organizational structure where finance, marketing, and supply chain will be centralized to our Nordic Headquarter in Stockholm.
In the territories we will increase our focus on sales and trade marketing, to ensure that we will meet all local market specific demands.
Our objective for this new organisation is “To build the most professional entertainment company in the Nordic area, with emphasis on strong presence of sales and trade marketing in each territory, supported by a professional Nordic Headquarter,” says Lars Hakansson, Managing Director Nordic.
Time Warner is the leading entertainment company in the world, and Warner Bros Entertainment has for many years been the largest supplier of feature films, TV Series, and Family Entertainment. During 2005 we have many strong titles such as "Batman Begins," "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "The Island," and another feature with Harry Potter. We also have strong TV series such as "The O.C.," "The West Wing," "Joey," and "Friends."
“Warner will continue its relationship with Sandrew Metronome, and distribute all its products for the Nordic region. We see this as a great cooperation as we will have the perfect balance between US produced movies, and strong local titles,” says Lars Hakansson.# # #
